About featherScroll
Stories that spark curiosity about the world
What We Do
featherScroll is a daily storytelling blog. Every day, we publish short, well-researched stories designed to make you pause and think "huh, I didn't know that." We believe curiosity is one of the simplest joys available to anyone with a few spare minutes, and our goal is to deliver that feeling consistently, one story at a time.
Our Content
featherScroll is organised into four ongoing series:
- On This Day in History: A new story every day, tied to that exact date in history — with a full archive of previous days available to explore
- Wild Tales: Bizarre, lesser-known true stories from history that rarely make it into textbooks
- Did You Know? Mind-expanding facts about science, history, and the world around us
- What If? Speculative "alternate history" scenarios exploring how a single changed event could have reshaped the world
Our Approach
Our process starts with research and an initial draft assisted by AI tools. I then personally cross-check every fact against different reputable sources, correct errors, and rewrite the piece into its final form. AI is also used to help catch factual and grammatical errors during this review — but the published story always reflects my own research, judgment, and editing. What If scenarios are clearly presented as speculative fiction, not historical fact.
We publish for entertainment and educational purposes. We care about accuracy, but history is often incomplete or disputed — where sources conflict, we aim to note it rather than present a single version as absolute truth.
Who's Behind featherScroll
featherScroll is an independent publication created and run by a single person. I'm not backed by a large media company — just someone who enjoys digging up strange and fascinating corners of history and sharing them, one story a day.
